The 2010 Rieussec is a blend of 92% Semillon, 5% Sauvignon Blanc and 3% Muscadelle picked between 15 September and 4 November over four pickings. There are 160 grams per liter of residual sugar. It has a fragrant bouquet of light honeyed fruit, peony and brioche that does not quite have the daring-do of the 2011. The palate is well balanced with a viscous opening, harmonious with blood orange and quince notes forming toward the composed and elegant finish. This is a delightful Rieussec that I might prefer in its youth than with age. RP
Pale lemon-gold in color, the 2019 Rieussec flaunts a delicately scented nose of fresh grapefruit, lemon curd, lime leaves and clover honey with wafts of jasmine, white truffles and nutmeg. The palate slowly builds, revealing layers of apple and citrus fruits with loads of savory accents, framed by refreshing acidity and a seductively oily texture, finishing on a lingering honey-nut note. The 2011 Rieussec, a blend of 95% Semillon, 2% Sauvignon Blanc and 3% Muscadelle is an absolute dream. There is wonderful precision and mineralité on the nose, the new oak more integrated than a few months ago. The palate is beautifully balanced with clear honey, brioche and pralines, a sensual Rieussec that is utterly charming, hints of nougat and almond lingering on the long finish. RP
