Deep garnet-purple colored, it is a little youthfully subdued. With coaxing the nose opens out to reveal compelling black currant pastilles, baked black cherries, boysenberries and tilled soil with suggestions of candied violets, aged meats and anise. Full-bodied, the palate is absolutely laden with black and blue fruit layers, framed by wonderfully ripe, grainy tannins and lovely background freshness, finishing long and fragrant. RP
