Established in 1970, Cape Mentelle became one of the earliest wineries founded in Margaret River when David Hohnen (who also created Cloudy Bay in New Zealand) started the estate on Wallcliffe Vineyard with just 16 hectares of vines. Over the years, this James Halliday’s 5-red-star winery continues to build on its solid foundation, with producing some of the finest wines in Australia, which are always the benchmarks for the quality of the region.

Cabernet Sauvignon is the flagship of the estate with a rich history of exceptional quality and consistency. Primarily sourced from some of the oldest vines in Margaret River in their original estate vineyard, the wine displays profound structure and fruit intensity, with a strong sense of regional identity and varietal character. The estate also establishes a reputation for high-quality Chardonnay which is fine and textured, with aromatic complexity and outstanding balance.
