    Sustainability

    Our Sustainability Statements
    LOVE to SHARE

Share our LOVE of NATURE –

Wine is a gift from the nature. We love our planet and have been actively sourcing and promoting biodynamic wines from around the world. Biodynamics is a philosophical extension of organic viticulture practices and environmental sustainability, which is also a labour of love.

Share our LOVE of COMMUNITY –

Wine may be seen as a niche product but our love to the community has no boundary. We are actively involved in upcycling programmes and working with NGOs hand in hand to spread our love to the society.

Share our LOVE of PEOPLE –

We celebrate the diversity of people and make sure we take care not only our people’s work but also their body and mind. We love to share the most valuable things everyone deserves.

    Upcycling Workshop

Watson’s Wine co-hosted an Upcycling Workshop with ‘Social Venture Hong Kong’ (SVHK) on 16 October 2021, where our staff were paired up with kids to upcycle wine wooden boxes and wine bottles. All of us had fun while unleashing our creativity in the upcycling workshop. It is definitely a rewarding experience for all the volunteers!

    Watson’s Wine x Dosha Woodcraft

With some extra thoughts, we can give new lives to old wooden wine boxes! Watson’s Wine has recently collaborated with Dosha Woodcraft to upcycle the wooden boxes in the warehouse, which were to be sent to the landfill, into different new products. It can not only reduce waste but also add a touch of taste to the lives of the new products’ users. The upcycled products range from keyring holders, snack trays to furniture and drawers, very diverse and full of possibilities. The designers will emphasize the winery patterns on the wine boxes so that the products created are more unique. Dosha Woodcraft has also donated some of the upcycled furniture and drawers to grassroot families, helping those in need.

    Support German Wineries

Germany experienced its worst flood in 50 years in mid-July 2021. The flood disaster has had a devastating impact on many, including the wine producers of the Ahr Valley, one of the smallest wine regions in Germany.

Many growers from different wine regions are already on site with forklifts, vineyard tractors or pumps to save what can still be saved. External helpers are also on duty to help with any urgently needed vineyard work in order to secure the upcoming vintage.

Watson’s Wine has donated $10 for every German wine sold from 3-31 Aug 2021 to Wines of Germany (Deutsches Weininstitut, DWI), and help local wineries to reconstruct.

    Support Australia

Australia has faced devastating bushfires – an estimated 100,000 sq. km of Australian land has been burned, over 20 people lost their lives, including firefighters, and 1.25 billion animals have been killed. Immediate support has been called for. From Jan 13 till Feb 29, 2020, for every bottle of Australian wine sold, Watson’s Wine will donate $10 to NSW Wildlife Information, Rescue and Education Service Inc. (WIRES) and NSW State Emergency Service. Let’s join hands to support Australia to fight against the bushfires, rescue wildlife and provide emergency services.

    Glass Bottle Recycling Project

The recycling rate of glass bottles is only 7% in Hong Kong. To protect our environment, Watson’s Wine has collaborated with Baguio Green Group to launch the Glass Bottle Recycling Project. Customers can bring the cleaned glass wine bottles to Watson’s Wine stores, which will be passed to the green group for further recycling into eco-blocks and construction materials.

*Light bulbs, chemical container, mirror, ceramic or crystal materials are not accepted.

Wanderer Watchers - Dementia Care Network
    Watchful Hearts, Caring Hands

At AS Watson, we understand the growing concern surrounding missing elderly individuals, especially those with dementia. Our Wanderer Watchers campaign, symbolised by our mascot Brainy, is dedicated to addressing this issue in Hong Kong. With a network of over 500 stores - Watsons, PARKnSHOP, FORTRESS, and Watson’s Wine - we serve as vital detection points of lost elders within the community.

By integrating the Dementia Angel App on our mobile devices in our store network, we aim to help locate lost elders, providing peace of mind to families and caregivers in collaboration with the Jockey Club Centre for Positive Aging. Our commitment extends beyond technology; we offer training for store staff, organise community activities for dementia patients and their caregivers, and collaborate with NGOs on projects to create a Dementia Care Network to ensure that no one is left behind.

Join us in creating a supportive environment for dementia patients and their families, as we strive to be the caring presence they need.
