    The Hidden Gems of Spain – Old-Vine Garnacha & Carineña - 21 Jan (Thu) 7:00pm (UTC+8)

While Tempranillo is the most-planted red grape variety of Spain, two important varieties - Garnacha (known as Grenache) and Carineña (known as Carignan) are often considered to stay in the shadow of the king. The pair is ideally planted in the northeast part of the country, with moderate climate and Mediterranean influence. At best, the grapes produce full-bodied and exceptionally intense wines, particularly those made with very old vines planted on high altitudes.

Alto Moncayo is located in Campo de Borja DO and co-founded by Barossa’s star winemaker Chris Ringland, who crafts powerful wines with 100% old-vine Garnacha. It is the only Spanish red wine awarded perfect 100 points by Robert Parker Jr. himself. Managed by José Luis Pérez from Mas Martinet, Cims de Porrera in Priorat DOQ re-defines the high-quality style of old-vine Carineña planted on steep rocky slopes above Porrera village. On 21 Jan (Thu), we will discover these treasures from Spain together with these two wineries.

This episode will be conducted in Cantonese.
