Coonawarra, where grapevines were firstly planted in 1891, today is a premium area for Cabernet Sauvignon located at the southern part of South Australia. It is famous for a strip of red “terra rossa” limestone soil, together with the cool Mediterranean climate which is very similar to that of Bordeaux, which create a perfect environment for rich and firmly-structured red wines that are renowned around the world.
On 19 Nov (Thu), we will have Bruce Gregory, winemaker of Majella Wines - a James Halliday’s 5-red-star estate (the highest ranking) in Coonawarra founded by the Lynn family who has been residents for five generations, to explore the world-class Cabernet Sauvignon made in this cooler region of South Australia.
