We all love well-cellared red wines with smooth tannins – but have you ever tried a bottle of aged white wine? With the absence of tannins, most white wines are best consumed freshly young. Nevertheless, some white grapes, including Riesling and Semillon, with a high level of acidity and concentration, are able to craft amazingly long-lived wines that last for decades and develop an exceptional complexity and layers of flavours!
On 13 Aug (Thu), we invite two “James Halliday’s Winery of the Year” to unlock the secret of aged white wines. Barry family of Jim Barry Wines (winner of year 2020) will bring their signature dry Riesling made in Clare Valley, and teams up with McWilliams family of Mount Pleasant (winner of year 2017) who produces the iconic “Lovedale Semillon” in Hunter Valley.
