Shiraz is undoubtedly the most representative wine grape variety in Australia. It was one of the original varieties brought into the land in 1832 by James Busby, who is recognised as the father of Australian wine. Today, the country is home to the world’s oldest Shiraz vines still in production.
The grape is the most widely planted variety in the country. It is grown in all regions and these different terroirs in combination with creative winemaking result in a complex array of styles. On 19 June (Fri), we will have three iconic producers - Henschke (Eden Valley), Kaesler Wines (Barossa Valley) and Mount Pleasant (Hunter Valley), to host a symposium with us to discover the regional nuances of Australian Shiraz.
