A powerful red set in a supple frame, offering a dark, focused profile backed by lively acidity. Dense tannins and a plush texture carry a pure beam of black cherry and wild strawberry fruit, with accents of mocha, licorice, spiced orange peel and mountain herbs through the long-lasting finish. WS
The 2019 El Puntido was still very young and energetic, powerful with generous oak and plenty of tannins that need polishing and integration, which should be provided by the time in bottle. It has ripe berries and smoky notes, hints of shoe polish and a darker profile than the 2018 I tasted next to it and with incisive tannins. RP
