About The Wine
The 2016 Volnay 1er Cru Clos d'Audignac offers one of the most powerful bouquets among La Pousse d'Or's range of '16s, with showy black cherries, blueberry and light licorice scents, quite rich and extravagant. The palate is brisk and quite taut on the entry and seems to have other ideas. This is more introverted and linear, more black fruit than red with a slightly grainy finish. Moderate length here. RP

This is aromatically much earthier and notably less spicy though there is a lovely layering to the restrained nose of various dark berries, plum and tea scents. There is both fine volume and intensity to the beautifully detailed and stony medium weight and tautly muscular flavors that deliver excellent depth and length. BH

This too reflects a subtle whiff of barnyard on the much earthier aromas of mostly dark currant. There is fine energy if not quite the same density to the medium weight flavors that also exude a subtle minerality before concluding in a lingering and better balanced finish. BH
