Chile was long associated with reliable and inexpensive wines produced in large volume, but a new generation is beginning to reveal the real potential hidden in the varied climate and topography along this long and narrow country next to the Pacific ocean. Since the 1990s, new zones such as Limarí and Elqui were established to show the cool-climate aspects of Chile, followed by the southernmost regions like Malleco, famous for its extreme Antarctic climate.
Alcohuaz crafts medium-bodied wines at Elqui with the granite soils, high altitude and sun intensity of the valley; Incepted in Vosne-Romanée in Burgundy, Aristos is created to produce the “Grand Vin” of Chile from Cachapoal and Limarí; Baettig is founded by Francisco Baettig, the winemaker of Seña and Viñedo Chadwick, and his cousin in Malleco to craft world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
This episode will be conducted in Cantonese.
