Founded in Portugal in 1670, Warre’s is the oldest British Port House. As one of the very first producers to ship these wines to Britain, Warre’s was the pioneer of a great tradition, laying the foundations of Port and becoming one of the foremost exponents of Vintage Port. This great heritage lives on and Warre’s continues to drive Port forward through its undiminished commitment to quality and innovation.
Warre’s signature style is admired for the floral aromatics, freshness and supreme elegance that its Vintage Ports embody. The balance and elegance of Warre’s Vintage Ports reflect the vineyards from which they are sourced: Quinta da Cavadinha, Quinta do Retiro and Quinta da Telhada.
Warre’s was largely responsible for reinvigorating the aged tawny category when it broke the rules with its ground-breaking Otima 10, whilst at the same time not disowning its wealth of tradition and knowledge by continuing to produce the finest bottle-matured Late Bottled Vintage Port and Warre’s Warrior, the oldest Port marque in the world.

Warre’s Port is owned by the Symington Family Estates, which is the leading premium Port producer and the leading owner of vineyards in the Douro valley. The family business is a founding member of Primum Familiae Vini – an association of 12 historic European wine families.
In 2019 the company became a certified B Corporation – the first wine company in Portugal to take this step – joining a global community of businesses audited for the highest standards of social and environmental responsibility. Symington was named Ethical Company of the Year in The Drinks Business 2019 Green Awards.
In 2020 Symington was voted in 7th place in The World’s Most Admired Wine Brands list by a panel of over 200 international wine experts organised by Drinks International. All Symington vineyards are sustainably managed under a minimum intervention certification and 130 ha are organically farmed – the largest area of organic vineyard in northern Portugal. The family have invested significantly in viticulture R&D to adapt to climate change and have an ambitious sustainability plan, with a series of public goals under the banner of Mission 2025.
