Established as a Classified Growth in 1855, Château Montrose in Saint-Estèphe has been looking after its unique terroir of deep gravels over clay subsoil for two centuries. A single sweep vineyard of 235 acres, perfectly well-drained, enjoys the benefits of its proximity to the Gironde estuary, which acts as a thermal regulator and contributes to the proper ripening of the grapes. The complexity of the soils of the "Montrose hilltop", its ideal exposure, its tailor-made grape varieties, allow each of them (60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit-Verdot) to reach perfect ripeness every year and to produce our three wines: Château Montrose, La Dame de Montrose et Tertio de Montrose, that perfectly reflect the signature of an exceptional terroir.
Concerned about preserving its natural wealth, limiting the impact of its activity on the environment by capitalizing on its ecosystems, the estate has been committed since its acquisition in 2006 by Martin and Olivier Bouygues, to a global environmental approach that looks to the future. Sustainable viticulture over the entire vineyard since 2019, a series of green measures to encourage biodiversity on the estate and the systematic recycling of all its production from the vineyard and the cellar, make Château Montrose a model of skilled winemaking and sustainable development.
