A subtle mineral verve to the white fruit, sliced apples, white almond and lime. Seriously dry and textured on the palate with a medium body and a bright, energetic finish. A tad saline and savory in the long but subtle finish. JS
The 1983 Conde de los Andes Blanco showed a golden color and a fully developed nose with hints of quince, asparagus, honey and pollen, recognizable as old, aged Rioja. The palate revealed quite good freshness, some austerity and a pleasant bitterness in the finish. This is a curiosity, and the price reflects its age and scarcity. At the time, the grapes were picked relatively early to keep acidity, and the wine has a moderate 12% alcohol. RP
