This is the blackforest cake of your dreams combined with the award-winning black plum compote eaten with a spoon. Oak sidles in with clove, cinnamon and orange rind. On the palate it's more red pomegranate focused with a lively lick of acidity and plushness, without being heavy. Very approachable drinking and a merlot you should seek out. JH
