The 2021 Barossa vintage is a bit of a banger, with the best wines showing excellent colour and length of flavour. Deep magenta-splashed crimson in the glass with deep yet crunchy dark plum, blueberry and blackberry fruits cut with hints of baking spices, dark chocolate, sage, licorice, violets, a whiff of lemon zest and deep, earthy notes. Ditto on the palate, which shows some nice freshness and verve, excellent fruit density and tannin ripeness and a plush, enchanting finish. JH
