Attractive nose of cherries, olives, undergrowth, ground coriander and chestnut mushrooms. It’s medium-bodied with fine, well-integrated tannins. Fleshy and flavorful with savory character. JS
The Fonbel 2013 is a blend of 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot matured in 30% new oak. To be honest, there is more greenness coming through here compared to the Simard, because of that Cabernet Sauvignon. The palate has a slightly chewy entry. Firm tannins but this is a little disjointed towards the finish.
