Blended of 72% Grenache, 25% Shiraz and 3% Mourvedre, the 2014 Ironstone Pressings GSM has a broody, earthy nose of blackberries and black currants with hints of stewed tea, sautéed herbs, loam and menthol. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is laden with black fruit and layers of earthy flavors supported by a chewy backbone, finishing with a pepper and herbs lift. RP
This is a blend of 75% grenache, 20% shiraz and 5% mourvedre with the shiraz component selected for its spicy and lively style. Grenache is the star here, holding a very fresh and spicy edge to the nose with some fresh, earthy elements, too. On the palate there’s plenty of raspberries, blueberries and blue plums, carried on long, sheet-like tannins. Detailed and pure. JS

Matured in used French (81%) and American (19%) oak for 12 months. Deep crimson-purple,unmatched by virtually any Barossa Valley GSM; the alcohol, too,is strikingly low in GSM terms, then there is the powerful array of red and black fruits. Good now,but will be better still in 2+ years. This is a unique style, patented - so it seems - by d'Arenberg. JH
