Dear Wine Lover,
We are pleased to invite you to a wine tasting hosted by Mr. Guillaume Thienpont, the 4th generation owner of Vieux Château Certan, who will visit Hong Kong in November.
As the name suggests, Vieux Château Certan is one of the oldest, as well as finest, estates in Pomerol founded at early 16th century. The Thienponts, a well-established Flemish family from Belgium, acquired the property in 1924, marking the beginning of the family’s presence in the Bordeaux region. The 14-hectare vineyard is situated on a terrific terroir of gravel-clay soils, producing compelling wines with great natural concentrations of richness and flavours.
Produced from younger vines, La Gravette de Certan is the second wine of the estate offering a more accessible character in its youth. In 2018, Guillaume also took up the management of the neighbouring Château Guillot-Clauzel, a tiny but up-and-coming estate with 2.4 hectares of vineyard on a south-facing slope located just next to Le Pin, another Pomerol star owned by the Thienpont family.
